Control Centre

Project Overview

One of our long-term clients needed an Operations and Control Centre. One option would be to find another space. But between their team and ours, we knew it made more sense to redesign. Fortunately, we had some very applicable experience.

Crafting a work environment that confronts sound reduction was crucial to a successful design. We created a multi-layered wall surface and a multi-level ceiling that strategically combats obtrusive noise.

And because there are more surfaces than walls and a ceiling to consider, we addressed the propensity for the floor substrate to carry more unwanted noise than necessary with an acoustic rubber flooring.

On the less physical side of the coin, while action looms nearby, managers and executives can work undistracted by the busyness of the operations themselves.

They’re well ensconced in a high tech control room designed to allow their best performance. It’s one time we both knew the best solution to move forward was to focus on staying put.

The upgraded Transit control centre was designed specifically to help the transit system expand as planned in coming decades. The new centre, on St. Laurent, is a complex control centre that allows staff monitor bus and LRT lines in real time and with amazing efficiency. – David Gibbons
